Frequently Asked Questions & Answers

Q: Do you accept online payments?
A: We use a local agency to handle our leases and payments, assuring you that this is a genuine rental home. This saves you from having to pay a fee for the privilege of booking online. It also means you have an immediate, local contact should a problem arise during your stay. If you want the assurance of immediate payment, the agency does accept credit card payments for a small administrative fee. If interested, they would need your credit card number, expiration date, and 3 digit security code.

Q: What is your availability?
A: Our up to date calendar can be viewed on : Availability Tab

Q: How close is your place to Acadia National Park?

A: Approximately two-thirds of the island belongs to the park and there are at least 33 different entrances so it depends on what part of Acadia you are visiting. We are 4 miles or less from Echo Lake, Seawall, Bass Harbor Lighthouse, and many, many hiking trails within the Park. We are about 20 minutes from the Park Loop Road, Cadillac Mountain, and hiking trails on the East side of the island. We are about 15 minutes away from the carriage roads and hiking trails in Northeast Harbor.

Q: Do you have a water view?

A: Although we are only 1/2 mile from the harbor, we are not high enough above the trees to see it from the house. However, you can hear the boat horns and ferry whistle in the distance and you can feel the ocean breeze while you are outside. It is a quick walk to the harbor.

Q: When can we check in?
A: Check in time is Saturday, anytime after 4:00PM.

Q: What time is check out?
A: You must leave the premises no later than Saturday morning at 10:00AM unless other arrangements have been made. The cleaners will be in shortly thereafter.

Q: What should we do with the trash when we leave?
A: All trash should be put in the cans outside. Glass bottles, plastic bottles, and soda can recyclables in one can. All other trash in the other can.

Q: Where are you located exactly?
A: We are located just south of Southwest Harbor in a residential area. Exact address and directions will be given once all payments have been received.

Q: Do you have a Washer and Dryer?
A: Yes

Q: Do you have heat or air conditioning?
A: We do have heat for those cooler nights. We do not have Air Conditioning. Rarely is AC needed on the island and usually opening the windows and letting the ocean breeze come in is all that's needed. We do have fans for those rare, unusually warm days.

A: We are about a 25 minute drive from the center of downtown Bar Harbor.

Q: Do you have WIFI, Cable TV, and/or DVD player?

Q: What do we need to bring along?
A: Coats and clothes for layering up as the nights get cold. Also bring bug spray, sunblock, shampoo/conditioners, beach towels, hair dryer/curling iron, camera/binoculars, and your personal items.

A: Southwest Cycles in town rents bikes. The Park Service on Long Pond rents canoes and kayaks. If you are interested in kayak tours, contact Maine State Sea Kayak.
