Testimonials
"An excellent property; very well equipped, comfortably furnished and in a delightful secluded location. As we were travelling from the UK we found the owner's advice on activities, restaurants and the area in general very useful in making the most of our stay. We had a wonderful time !"
Andrew & Elaine, (Hampshire, England)
We had a wonderful time here. Even yesterday, despite the rain, we spent our time well. Your house was a great base to explore Acadia. We left a note in the guestbook.
Emiel and Ina (Apeldoorn, Netherlands)
"We had the absolute pleasure of staying in this cozy home this past summer. We are a family of five with three teenage boys and this house was perfect for us. The kitchen was clean and had everything you would need. The rest of the house was very well maintained and clean and also gave us everything we needed for our family getaway. The owners were a delight to deal with and very helpful and informative. Robyn gave us some great suggestions on places to visit, explore and great local restaurants. She was so kind and 100% reachable that I left there feeling as though I made a new friend! We took her advice on everything she mentioned and we were not disappointed at all. Arcadia is absolutely gorgeous and there is so much to see and do there. I was a little nervous that my adventure seeking sons would not have enough to do but that was not the case at all. Their home is very cozy and just a short travel distance from so many beautiful places to explore. Don't miss Cadillac mountain at sunset, absolutely breath taking views. I highly recommend staying in this home, you will not be disappointed."

Thank you very much for renting your home to us. We had a wonderful time! This was our first time to Maine and glad we made the trip. Acadia National Park was beautiful and everyone was very helpful and friendly. The weather was terrific, but warmer than we thought. Rangers at the park said it has been about 10 degrees warmer than usual. All the information at the house was extremely helpful in planning our stay - we really appreciated it! Thanks again and hope to be back.

"A few friends and I stayed in this house and we loved it! The Simon's were so thorough and accommodating in the days before our trip -- they provided a plethora of tips and information for our stay, on topics from dining, hiking, biking, fishing -- you name it! Nothing was left unaddressed. Throughout our stay, we found the house very comfortable and clean -- it really felt like home. The kitchen was impressively well stocked with everything you might need for cooking, grilling, baking, etc. We will definitely try to stay here the next time we visit Southwest Harbor.."
Catheine (New York, NY)
We recently spent a week in Robyn and Jim Simon's lovely Hillcrest Cottage in Southwest Harbor, Maine. Their home is situated on a secluded, peaceful property. All the linens, towels, dishes, pots and pans that you could possibly need are provided. There were six of us, and we had PLENTY of room to spread out and relax! Mount Desert Island is the home to Acadia National Park, a nature wonderland. Everywhere you look is a 'Kodak moment'! There is SO much to do - hiking, biking, and swimming. And, after a day of satisfying exercise, you can relax at night by strolling in Bar Harbor, eating a delicious homemade ice cream cone and looking at all of the interesting shops. A trip to Mount Desert Island is a MUST for everyone, and what better place to stay than Hillcrest Cottage!
Stephen and Susan Nitz (Upper Darby, PA)
"We enjoyed our week immensely. The island is enchanting. Your home was a relaxing place to rest and recharge to face another day of our adventure. We all felt blessed to experience the charm of MDI (Mount Desert Island). Southwest Harbor may be the quite-side, but we definitely preferred this side of the tracks. Thank you for the use of your place."
Alanna & Gerald (Dallas, TX)
"We had a great trip to Acadia. We traveled from Toronto, Canada. The house worked very well for us. There was enough room for the five of us and it afforded us the opportunity to prepare many of our own meals. The owners are great communicators and provided a lot of helpful information, both before we traveled and while we were in Maine. We're on our way home now. We had a fantastic time. Thanks for providing such a great place."
Nicole (Toronto, ON, Canada)
"This is a nice property and a good value. It is on the quiet side of the island on a large wooded, secluded lot, yet convenient to stores. It is close to both Southwest Harbor and Bass Harbor. The house was very clean upon arrival. The owners make every effort to make your stay comfortable and are very helpful regarding restaurant recommendations, attractions, etc. if you need them. We will definitely rent this home again.."
Note to us:
We just wanted to tell you that we had a wonderful time on Mt. Desert Island and we wanted to thank you for all of your help. Mainely Delights was the best place we ate and yes the desserts are terrific (if you are not counting calories). Wonderland and Ship Harbor trails were also excellent and inspired us to climb Mt. Acadia. We went to bed early that night!
Your house is very comfortable and was the right choice for us. The quiet side of the island is better and you can get to the hubbub of Bar Harbor, etc. quick enough. We will be back and hopefully your house will be available when we return. Thanks again for your hospitality and advice.
Steve & Sara (Chester, VA)
"Spacious, clean house was comfortable and provided everything we needed. We did a lot of things, including fishing (we were quite successful at Eagle lake, Echo lake, Long pond and Lower Hadlock Pond), visiting oceanarium, nature explorations (walking some trails and hiking Beech, Gorham and Champlain mountains), enjoying the ocean scenery along the Park Loop road (Ocean path was very entertaining as well as Sandy beach), collecting the mussels at the Pretty Marsh and grilling them right there in the picnic area, having dinner with popovers at Jordan's house, playing badminton in the yard. Oceanarium is really great - a must see for exquisite children 6-10 years old"
Anna (Winchester, MA)
"What a beautiful and private Maine Island Getaway. Thank you for your thoughtfulness in providing so many pleasant details; night lights, flashlights, menus, kitchen tools, island info, etc... We love the rock-bordered garden you have created in the front. Praise God!"
Rick & Linda (Williamsport, PA)
"It is obvious that Jim and Robyn's Hillcrest Cottage was not just a rental property, but their family vacation home. The property is well maintained and on the peaceful side of the island. Their home was a relaxing retreat from the adventures found in their welcome package that was compiled by years of their own family vacations. The home is well stocked with many conveniences and very well kept. My family of six spent a week exploring MDI from the suggestion found in the welcome package. Thank you for the most memorable experiences and best family vacation. We look forward to returning to Acadia and Hillcrest Cottage to continue our adventures."
Michelle (Wayne, PA)
The vacation was a great time and it was nice to get away. Thanks for sharing your home with us. It is a very nice place and we are sure you will have many years of fun times there. We managed to go on a few hikes. They turned out to be more intense than the brochure indicated but they were challenging and fun. We also went on a kayak guided tour on the west side of the island and that was fun. The weather was warm and calm and the guide was a fun personality. There were some seals that poked their heads up to look around and see what the commotion was all about on top of the water. We managed to go up in the sailplane glider too. We were released at 5500 ft and soared around the island for awhile. The storm the day before cleared out the skies and we could see quite a ways away towards the mountain ranges. thanks for your hospitality and your help in finding things to do. GREAT TIME was had by all !!!!
Tom (Woonsocket, RI)
Thanks again for all of your kindness and help in getting things settled for us at your home in Acadia. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and were very comfortable in the house on Hillcrest. We kayaked several times and all were nice, but the best was Pretty Marsh, where we left from the dock area, and followed the coast down to about Hardwood Island and back. We also loved biking the coastal section of the loop road, then the carriage roads from Jordan pond to Eagle lake, the drive along Somes Sound, poking around Bar Harbor, etc. One could stay busy for a very long time. You were both lovely to do business with.
